The Ninth World Congress of ICCEES was held in Makuhari, Japan, lasting for six days.
More than 1300 participants from over 60 countries explored all the academic areas of Slavic and Eurasian studies.Scholars of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) participated in the 9th World Congress of International Council for Central and East European Studies (ICCEES) last month.
The congress was held in Makuhari, Japan, lasting for six days. It is the first time that the congress to be held outside Europe or North America, and symbolized the drive to expand ICCEES’s scope throughout Asia.
Under the theme of “Makuhari – Where Many Wests Meet Many Easts”, more than 1300 participants from over 60 countries explored all the academic areas of Slavic and Eurasian studies in both social sciences and humanities during the 6-day-long congress.
Na Chuanlin, an associate professor of SISU’s Center for Russian Studies, made a speech on the development of the Orthodox Eastern Church in China. Zhang Ning from SISU’s Training Center for Overseas Study, give a presentation on Russia’s climate change diplomacy.
ICCEES, held every five years, is the highest level academic conference for Central and Eastern European issues. The next World Congress of ICCEES will be held in 2020 in Montreal, Canada.
