A

bout a dozen foreign experts in SISU had a dialogue on China International Import Expo (CIIE) on Oct. 31 at an activity named “SISU Global Café” organized by Office of International Cooperation and Exchange.

Xia Ji, a teacher from School of Economics and Finance, was invited to give an introduction about CIIE. Then, in the Q &A session, he answered questions from foreign experts ranging from the purpose of organizing CIIE to items sold at the Expo, from whether the organization of CIIE has anything to do with the trade disputes between China and the United States to whether ordinary consumers can get a bargain at CIIE?  They also talked about the role SISUers plays in CIIE, for more than 500 volunteers of SISU teachers and students served in CIIE.

Dr. Ejaz Hussain, an expert from Pakistan, had a telephone interview on Nov. 2, the second day after the event, with the Pakistan National Television (PTV) to share HISunderstanding he had just learned about CIIE at SISU.

He said in the interview that, as a major event held this year in China, CIIE offered a good chance to promote the development of the export industry and increase revenue for Pakistan. He emphasized that China had already lifted 600 million people out of poverty, which is a remarkable achievement that deserves learning in Pakistan.

Pakistan’s mainstream English newspaper Daily Times published Dr. Hussain’s article “China International Import Expo & Pakistan” on Nov. 3. In this article, he pointed out that is multi-purpose. One the one hand, it offers an opportunity to world leadership to head together to talk on issues that usually are not addressed due to time and space constraints and, on the other, provide a forum to talk business specially import opportunities, issues and prospects for further cooperation. Moreover, CIIE offers an opportunity to regional and global companies to interact, exchange ideas and explore avenues for furtherance of respective interest in a world which is beset with challenges of protectionism and prospects of economic globalization. In addition, the Import Expo helps generate cultural understanding among different participating nations.
