1 students enrolled in the Uzbek BA degree program in Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) this September and had their first Uzbek class on Sep.12, 2018.

Instructor Chen Siyu shared her experience in Kazakhstan. As a member of the first group of students sent to Central Asia after the “Belt and Road” Initiative was proposed, she witnessed the booming of Chinese-funded enterprises, Confucius Institutes and educational cooperation there. She encouraged students to master the Uzbek language and develop themselves into “multilingual+” talents.

Instructor Musurmanov Khurshid introduced his experiences of learning Chinese and studying in China, and introduce the culture of Uzbekistan with a video, calling on everyone to work hard to contribute the communication and cooperation between China and Ukraine.

Sophomore Liao Zixuan and Peng Zhifeng introduced what they saw and learned from their field study in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan this summer as members of the Belt and Road Youth Observing Program. Peng also shared his own experience as a Kazakh learner and gave these freshmen advice on learning.

Ren Yao, Secretary of CPC General Branch of School of Russian and Eurasian Studies, encouraged the freshmen to work hard and seize the opportunities to involve in the social practice related to the Belt and Road Initiative.
