rofessors from Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) had spent almost one year writing a book “Hangzhou Legend of Group 20”, which was published in May 2016 to celebrate the G20 summit held in Hangzhou, China.
The book explains the reasons for choosing Hangzhou instead of other more famous Chinese cities, for example Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, to hold G20 summit; and whether this will be an opportunity for Hangzhou to expand its international influence. Zhejiang Education Press started designing the book at the end of 2015 and invited SISU professors with strong multilingual capabilities to write it.
This book has more than 300,000 words in total, introducing people’s stories in Hangzhou, a geography, history, culture, economy, education and celebrities of G20 member states. It also has official greeting texts, audio and representative songs as attachment.
In order to finish writing “Hangzhou Legend of Group 20” before the opening ceremony of the summit, SISU Vice-President Yang Li, built a strong writer team in a short time. Professor Wang Youyong, Mao Wenwei, Jiang Yizhou, from Offices of Research Affairs, led 17 editors - Liu Hongsong, Wan Yu, Li Tao, Zhang Weiqi, Shen Lu, Yang Bo, Yang Ming, Chen Danna, Chen Zhi, Xin Hua, Zou Zhiqiang, Han Zhimin, Wang Jianquan, Wu Yongnian, Wang Liyun, Li Chunhu, Li Zhongzhu, to write information of G20 different member states. Other SISU teachers, including Chen Huilin, Miao Xiaodan, Qian Hao, Wang Lianhe, Zhang Jian, Yu Qian, Li Guanjie and Chen Yanjing, participated in checking drafts’ writing. All of them took great effort for this book. They showed our multilingual advantages and the ability of serving our country, and presented a special gifts to the upcoming G20 summit.
