T

he Students’ Union of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) began to recruit new members this September. Sixteen departments used different ways to attract freshmen to join their sections.

Members of Students’ Union organized recruitment talks on September 13 and 14. Each department’s directors introduced departments particularly. Some showed a series of slides, some played a promo video. Freshmen could sign up on the spot.

On September 14, 15 and 16, Students Union’s members recruited freshmen in front of the University Dining Hall. Students could sign up on the spot and by sending short messages. Directors and other old members passed out leaflets, some departments’ members even introduced by microphones to attract freshmen.

“All of us would try our best to attract new members, of course every department wants excellent students to choose them,” said one student who used microphone to introduce her department.

Almost every freshman had lots of leaflets in hand. “So many departments,” said a freshman. “I would choose those that I am interested in and those which could help me improve my abilities. It depends. I hope I can find my real interests and make friends in those departments.”

After the recruit, freshmen would have interviews. Departments’ directors would decide if they could join their departments.

As the most significant student organization of SISU, the Students’ Union is committed to offer comprehensive services for all students around campus.
