lumna Zhou Yu, host of “Nightly News” at Shanghai TV News Channel, gave the first lecture of the “School of Journalism and Communication (SJC) Alumni Lecture Series” on September 9th in Shanghai International Studies University (SISU).

Zhou graduated from SISU in 2009 with a bachelor degree in Broadcast Journalism. During the lecture, Zhou shared her studying and working experience with about 150 audience, most of whom are freshmen.

“SISU is an inclusive community, I mean that even you can do something that seems a little out of the rules. But you will find that it always holds a right value. So if the thing is allowed here, you can just safely absorb yourself in it. Besides, ‘finding your direction’ is the most important thing.” Zhou said.

The lecture went on about two hours. Ms. Fan Juan, Chair of SJC Council encouraged the students to learn from and cherish their university time.

The lecture is part of the SJC Alumni Lecture Series. In the future, the series will invite alumni of different fields to give salon-size lectures, which may not have so many listeners like the others but can catch the audience’s attention better, while each participant can be guaranteed to approach the speaker and have a deeper communication.
