On the afternoon of August 8, 2023, Patricio Conejero Ortiz, secretary of international affairs of University of Buenos Aires, visited Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). Zhang Jing, vice president of SISU, met with him at the International Conference Center of Hongkou Campus.
Zhang introduced SISU’s latest achievements in discipline development, talent training, and international strategies in the recent years. She noted that the foreign language majors have been integrated continuously with many disciplines such as politics, history, journalism and communication, law, etc., forming a system of area studies with SISU characteristics. It is highly anticipated that the two universities can join forces to build a research and cooperation platform to deepen international scientific research collaboration and exchanges in area studies on China and Latin America.
Conejero thanked SISU for the warm reception and said SISU is an important partner of University of Buenos Aires. He believed that academic cooperation between Argentina and China has broader prospects and greater potential compared with achievements made by the two countries in politics and economy. He expected that University of Buenos Aires and SISU would enhance their scientific partnership in language education, Latin American studies and Chinese modernization model research. He also envisioned increased faculty and student visits as well as teaching exchanges between the two universities.
Yu Man, chair of the School of European and Latin American Studies, Mao Xiaohong, (executive) deputy director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Yang Ming, vice chair of the School of European and Latin American Studies, attended the meeting.
