On the morning of March 7, 2023, Tunku Abidin, Pro-Chancellor of UCSI University, and his delegation visited Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). Vice President Zhang Jing met with the guests at the conference center of the Hongkou campus.
Vice President Zhang welcomed the visit of Tunku Abidin and his delegation to SISU and appreciated their support for promoting educational cooperation and talent exchanges between Malaysia and China. She then introduced the characteristics of the university, the promotion of the strategic language construction for the Belt and Road Initiative, regional and state studies, and various forms of cooperation projects with Malaysian universities in recent years. She hoped to use this visit of Tunku Abidin as an opportunity to further promote educational cooperation and exchanges of teachers and students between the two universities.
Abidin expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from SISU. He stated that this was his first visit to Shanghai and he was deeply impressed by the unique characteristics and academic strengths of this university. He looked forward to a deeper understanding between the two sides and would fully support them in bearing more fruits in educational cooperation and exchanges.
Subsequently, the two sides had in-depth discussions on issues, such as non-degree education cooperation, Malaysian students studying in China, and exchange visits of teachers and students.
Dr. Katherine Poh, Senior Director of the China Market Department of USCI University, Shi Hui, Director of the China Region, Liu Dan, Manager of the China Region, Ren Shumin, Manager of the International Cooperation Department and Lu Shen, Admissions Officer of the China Region were among the delegation. This visit was also accompanied by Wang Xiaoling, Director of the Training Center for Overseas Study and Dean of the College for International Cooperative Programs of Shanghai International Studies University, Vice Director (Vice Dean) Zhu Yushan, Han Wei, and Cai Jian from College for International Cooperative Programs, Gu Jinyu from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, and Lyu Lin and Zhang Wenting from the Office of International Student Affairs.
