On March 2, Ravit Baer, the new Consul General of Israel in Shanghai, and her delegation visited Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). President Li Yansong met with the guests at the Songjiang Campus. The two sides held a friendly talk on the construction of the Hebrew language major, Israeli studies, and cooperation on Jewish literary and cultural research.
President Li Yansong introduced to the Consul General and her delegation the history of SISU, the development trend of disciplines, and the construction of the Hebrew language major. President Li expressed gratitude to the Consulate General of Israel for its long-term support to the development of the Hebrew language major at SISU, and conveyed the willingness to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Israeli universities and research institutions in the fields of talent training and academic research.
Consul General Ravit Baer said the Consulate General of Israel would be willing to undertake diversified cooperation with SISU, hold various activities, and continue to offer assistance to Hebrew-major students in learning, exchanges, and employment opportunities.
After the meeting, the Consul General and her delegation went on to the School of Asian and African Studies and met with the teachers and students majoring in Hebrew. The students shared with the Consul General interesting stories about their studies, the operation of the WeChat official account, and the special activities within the department. They also had a dialogue with the Consul General and the Deputy Consul General on topics such as Hebrew language learning and Jewish history.
